Assessment
Our classes are small, relaxed and friendly. Competency is assessed by a combination of practical learning tasks both in the classroom and in the work environment, and the theory assessment at the end of each unit. This reduces pressure of a large examination at the end of the course, and also enables us to pinpoint any areas of difficulty during the course rather than at the end. Assessment is the integral part of the overall course. The New Age Spa Institute delivers training and assessment using the principles of competency based training. This means that student's performance is assessed on their ability to perform the tasks based on the industry standards. To ensure that we cater for a variety of learning styles and students' needs, a range of assessment strategies are included such as: practical demonstration of skills, short written tests and exercises, observation of processes, research assignments, oral questioning, and student workbooks.
