CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS - AESTHETICS
An esthetics curriculum includes a program consisting of 750 clock hours of instruction as follows:

 

75 hours - Basic Training

5 hours     History of skin care

5 hours     Personal hygiene and public health

20 hours   Professional ethics

20 hours   Sterilization and sanitation

25 hours   Introduction to skin analysis and skin care. Basic facial treatments.


150 hours - Scientific Concepts

25 hours    Cells, metabolism and body systems

25 hours    Bacteriology

25 hours    Physiology and histology of the skin

25 hours    Human anatomy

25 hours    Chemistry-understanding chemicals and their use

25 hours    Skin disorders and special esthetics procedures


500 hours - Procedures and Practices

50 hours    Non- therapeutic massage, excluding the scalp

50 hours    Nutrition and health of skin

50 hours    Skin Analysis

50 hours    Cleansing the skin

50 hours    Mask therapy and facial treatments

50 hours    Electricity, machines and apparatus

50 hours    Facial hair removal, use tweezers method, depilators, and waxing

50 hours    Facial Treatments with the aid of machines

50 hours    Facial Treatments without aid of machines

25 hours    Professional Makeup Techniques

25 hours    Product knowledge as it relates to esthetics

 

25 hours - Business Practices
50 hours    Illinois Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nail Technology Act and Rules Management
50 hours    OSHA standards relating to chemical use
