WORK EXPERIENCE

 

One of the problems facing newly qualified Estheticians is that employers ask for the real word practical experience. For this reason we opened a student day spa, where all treatments are performed by students and the students here run the salon under the guidance of their teacher and workplace trainer and assessor. Students gain valuable experience not only in treatments, but also in all other aspects of salon operation.

 

The spa is being operated by a qualified trainer and assessor who records student progress on a weekly basis. Written and oral reports are given to the class teachers on any areas students need some help or improvement. Students can choose the days most suitable to them. Students must treat work experience as they would a real job, and should be responsible as it's required in the real work environment. At the completion of this work experience program, students become valuable employees, having practiced their competency learned in class on a regular basis in a real working salon. Our day spa is not set up for profit, but purely to provide experience that is difficult to get otherwise. All day spa hours must be completed in our clinic, but student s may obtain more practical experience at other salons in addition to course requirements.
